About Rob

Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK) grew up in Grand Island, New York. He’s been married to his high school girlfriend, Cheryl, since 1977. They raised two children who are now independent adults. Rob and Cheryl live in Northern Virginia. She is a school-based occupational therapist and he is a minister who heads Faith and Action, a non-profit organization located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Rob also serves on the boards of numerous other organizations including the Institute on Religion and Public Policy, the Evangelical Church Alliance, the National Pro-Life Religious Council and the National Clergy Council. Rob holds degrees in Bible and Theology, Christian Ministry and Divinity. He is an author, conference speaker and a frequent guest preacher at churches. He appears regularly on national television and radio interview programs and has been the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles. Rob has traveled widely throughout the United States and the world including most recently to Sudan and Darfur. In 1983 he founded Operation Serve International, a Christian humanitarian relief group that provides medical, dental and other healthcare services to some of the poorest children on earth. In 1988, he and his identical twin brother, Paul, co-founded Hearts for the Homeless, a mobile advocacy program for indigent children, women and men on the streets of their home city of Buffalo, New York. Of all the things Rob does, he says loving God is most important, followed by loving his life’s partner, Cheryl, and his family. After that comes taking care of Norma, his homeless friend outside Union Station in Washington. Only then is there all that other stuff. He’s still working on getting all this in the right order.
